Anne Holmes

Anne Holmes is a multi-disciplined artist who has honed her numerous talents over many years. Beginning with a Bachelor in Fine Art from UCLA she became an Art Educator, then explored Embroidery, Fiber Arts and Quilting. She then took these talents and incorporated them into her position as Art Director in the commercial textile, and garment industries. 

All these disciplines when layered together bring three key elements to light: ART, DESIGN and COLOR. All flow into Anne’s current work as layers reflecting the passage of time, the different stages in the painting, the different stages in her journey.

As the layers of the painting grow they often no longer resemble the original start or idea, but reflect what is happening on the canvas and how Anne reacts as each new layer, each new material is added. Some layers are simple, some complex and possibly jarring. Anne’s job is to bring it all into balance, to build the visual energy of the painting.                                                                                   

Painting is a continuous challenge and the creative process keeps bringing Anne back to the studio.
